Known as "Corn Lily" and "False Hellabore", Veratrum californicum is a poisonous plant native to mountain meadows in North America. It can grow up to 6 feet tall! The broad, veined, and bright green leaves are a favorite subject of photographers, especially after a light rain. These were photographed in the spring near Brazos Cliffs, in the Tusas Mountains, in northern New Mexico.
